Abbott Production Technician in Zurich, Switzerland

Thoratec Switzerland GmbH is a part of Abbott Laboratories, one of the world's leading manufacturers of medical devices. We are the global market leader for implantable and extracorporeal blood pumps based on magnetic levitation technology. Our life-saving systems, which we develop and manufacture in Zurich, are used for acute and long-term therapy in patients with severe heart diseases.

Our location in the city of Zurich has around 130 employees in the areas of development and production of the CentriMag system and the HeartMate 3 motor. Currently we are looking for:

Production Operator

The open position is within the Manufacturing – CentriMag team. This team manufactures the CentriMag system consisting of motor, console, monitor, pump and accessories. This is done with manual assembly steps, semi-automated testing steps, and packaging of the products.

In This Function You Will

  • Work under limited supervision

  • Set-up, calibrate and operate machines and equipment following production schedules and quality standards

  • Manually assemble and test the products following manufacturing procedures and Good Documentation Practice (GDP)

  • Monitor production processes, troubleshoot and solve technical problems to minimize reject levels

  • Work with chemicals

  • Work in an electrostatic discharge (ESD) controlled area

  • Work in a cleanroom if required

  • Conduct cycle count and inventory counting

  • Contribute in daily meetings and continuous improvement and 5S initiatives

Desired Profile

  • School Diploma

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience

  • German and English language skills

  • Ability to work in shift if required
