Abbott Production Planner in Zurich, Switzerland

Abbott MCS Zurich is part of the medical device division of Abbott Laboratories , a fortune 500 company with 110’000 employees worldwide. We are the global market leader for implantable and extracorporeal blood pump systems based on magnetic bearings. Our lifesaving medical devices, which are developed and produced on-site in Zurich, are used for the short- and long-term treatment of patients suffering from severe heart disease.

Our Zurich site employs more than 100 people, covering areas including R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain. We implemented our PLM tool, and an exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and talented:

Production Planner

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Optimize production schedule (1-4 weeks horizon) for products in accordance to customer demand and available capacity

  • Accountability for downstream replenishment and timely release for production

  • Ensure the Planning parameters are updated in the appropriate business systems

  • Optimize customer service to avoid stock outs; identify and address potential short-term supply constraints within the weekly process; analyze daily supply/demand alerts and address or escalate accordingly

  • Own the supply S&OP process aligning communications between Commercial and Supply Chain partners, and ensuring connectivity with Business Planning process

  • Provide input to the S&OP process to allow for transparency of risks and opportunities

  • Manage inventory levels in regional distribution centers by reviewing the demand plan, safety stocks, lead times and any other relevant system parameters, propose improvements of the planning processes and parameters, and understand the impact of the required changes

  • Collaborate and partner with operations to ensure accurate bill of materials switch dates and timely update product of specific production and capacity parameters within local ERP system for the 1-24 months horizon; develop 'optimized' recipes for better scheduling and capacity utilization / efficiency.

  • Participate on investigative teams and site group initiatives (e.g. Customer Complaints, Business Continuity Planning, Kaizen/LEAN teams, etc.).

  • Support Strategic Project implementation (NPI, LCM, Compliance, etc.)

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration with specialization in Logistics or Supply Chain

  • Prior experience as a planner preferred.

  • Expertise in supply chain and/or logistics (desirable); APICS certification (preferred)

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent knowledge in excel, VBA & PowerBI

  • Excellent knowledge in German and English (spoken and written).
