Job Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled engineer who is passionate about driving new product developments to improve patient’s lives. The role is primarily focused on developing the next generation of digitally-integrated Nobel Biocare dental prosthetic hardware solutions. If you are curious about new technology and are willing to deep dive into new fields, then this may be the position you have been looking for. The role provides opportunities for technical specialisation or long-term development into product management or project management roles.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop products autonomously in compliance with the company’s development processes. Plan, perform and document design verification and validation activities.

  • Ensure all required specifications and related documentation are in place in due time and quality to assure early milestone achievement.

  • Manage external partners and suppliers in relation to assigned development activities.

  • Identify patentable designs and file patents in cooperation with the company’s IP department.

  • Identify and drive process and product improvements.

  • Be a central point of knowledge for technical expertise in the company’s products.

  • Continuously report to line and project manager achievements and escalate challenges in a timely manner.

Job Requirements:

Critical Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Strong technical background (BSc, MSc or equivalent) in relevant field (e.g. biomedical or mechanical engineering).

  • Further education in Medical Technology or Business Administration is a plus.

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written), German (spoken and written) is an asset.

Critical Skills/technical know-how

  • Strong analytical skills and result orientation with interest in innovation and new technology.

  • Analyzes issues and breaks them down. Makes documented, systematic and rational judgments based on relevant information.

  • Demonstrates a broad-based view of issues and a perception of their longer-term impact or wider implications. Views issues in terms of costs, profits, markets and added value.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of integrity, commitment, ethics and proactivity to cultivate a network of productive relationships in an international working environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks independently to meet the objectives.

  • Good knowledge of design control processes according to ISO 13485 or ISO 9001.

  • Good knowledge of relevant tools (3D CAD, CAM, SAP, MS Office).

  • Good knowledge various manufacturing methods especially CNC, additive manufacturing including limitations and cost.

  • An understanding of dental clinical and laboratory workflows, in order to be able to translate customer needs into technical requirements, is a plus.

  • An understanding of 3D data capture, imaging and data processing is a plus.

Critical Experience:

  • Three plus (3+) years of successful working experience in product development and / or technical project lead in medical device or pharmaceutical industry, preferably in the dental industry.

  • Experience in leading technical projects and teams in matrix organizations.
