Meta Linux Kernel Software Engineer in Zurich, Switzerland

Summary:

Facebook is seeking a Linux Kernel Software Engineer to join our Kernel team. The Facebook kernel team is responsible for developing fixes and new features that are primarily driven by internal needs and emerging industry trends. As a member of that team, you will play an integral role in improving kernel stability, performance, observability, and manageability. Additionally, you will help work with the wider Linux community including upstream developers, vendors, and optionally conferences. This position is full-time and located in Zürich, Switzerland.

Linux Kernel Software Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Drive the development of new Kernel features by understanding the overlap between Meta's internal needs and broader community needs

  2. Help organize cross-functional efforts in Meta's infrastructure org

  3. Help the hardware and software teams make better decisions about future hardware roadmaps

  4. Use Linux expertise to improve large, cross-functional infra efforts

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. At least 5 years of experience working with the Linux kernel

  2. Have code in the Linux kernel

  3. Experience driving internal initiatives in a large, cross-functional setting

  4. Knowledge in programming with C

  5. Experience using kernel perf tools and modifying tracepoints for resolving perf issues

  6. Troubleshooting and debugging skills

  7. Ability to integrate deep knowledge of systems software with a broad understanding of infrastructure
