We are hiring Engineering Apprentices (Automatiker/in EFZ) for our data centers in Switzerland.

In this role you will join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team who is responsible for the maintenance of the critical facility infrastructure in AWS data centres. As an Apprentice you will be trained in high standards for operational performance in the areas of safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency and cost. This role involves working with electrical, mechanical and controls systems and you will interact with different departments and subject matter experts to drive solutions on complex problems

Duration: 4 years

Start date: August 2024

Location: broader Zurich area

What we offer :

The apprenticeship program to become a Data Center Engineering specialist (Automatiker/in EFZ) lasts four years and consists of classroom learning at vocational school and at our training partner location to gain the basic knowledge; followed by practical hands-on training in our AWS Data Center

sites.

The practical training will take place at the AWS Data Center sites, where you will be trained by experienced data center professionals and vocational trainers across a wide range of IT support

activities:

  • Maintenance management

  • Incident management

  • Structured fault finding

  • Project management

  • Data Center fit-out and rack installation

You will combine practice and theory by working with the following systems:

  • High-Voltage and Low-Voltage power

  • Standby Diesel Generators

  • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

  • Chillers and Ventilation systems

  • Fire detection and extinguishing

  • Building Management System (BMS)

  • Security and Safety systems

Basic Qualifications

  • Passionate about Engineering

  • You like solving problems and learning new things

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment

  • Swiss Secondary school diploma (level A)

  • Good English skills

  • 15+ years old at the start of your apprenticeship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on Engineering experience (professional or as a hobby)

  • Interest in IT systems
