Abbott Senior Finance Analyst in Zaventem, Belgium

For our Neuromodulation Division, we are recruiting a Senior Financial Analyst supporting our Northern Europe region, based at an office within the Region.

The Senior Financial Analyst, Northern Europe will be a key Business Partner working closely with Country Leaders, guiding them through key initiatives like Profitability Improvement initiatives, Opex Management/Investment as well as leading on Financial Plans and Forecasts whilst also owning the Monthly Close processes for the region

Responsibilities include:

  • Own the build and development of detailed financial models for use in forecasting

  • Load & review Financial forecasts on a quarterly basis into the Dodeca system

  • Prepare and analyse spending vs budget by highlighting and investigating material variances

  • Prepare and distribute financial reports with commentary on current performance to GM and Country managers

  • Own the accuracy and completeness of the sales reporting system that is relied upon by the sales force to see both actual results but also Targets

  • Prepare and Load Quotas into sales reporting system to allow Variance analysis by reps

  • Perform Bonus accrual and payment calculations

  • Prepare journal entries and run the month end close as needed to ensure proper accounting at the functional and departmental level

  • Perform in depth reviews and variance analysis of Gross Profit Margin and advise on corrective action to improve delivery of profit

  • Travel may be required to support financial reviews across countries within Region North Europe

  • Develop and utilize sound financial processes and help improve visibility on Price/Volume reporting/tracking.

  • Be a key contact for Regional Managers and Country Managers for ad hoc requests and analysis.

  • Act as Controller to a part of the region, updating region controller on a regular basis with items of action/concern within the markets and proposed solutions/actions.

  • Working with and leading cross divisional/functional teams related to markets with controller responsibility, specifically customer services, Commercial, CFS/HUB, Compliance, Audit, AP/AR, IT.

  • Gathering important commercial data compiling it into reports business leaders can use to drive fact-based decisions – with focus on forward looking analysis to drive risk/opportunity identification.

  • Demonstrate proactive ownership in a problem-solving approach to issues/tasks to drive accountability within the organisation

  • Lead on finances of country business reviews within markets with controller responsibility to allow for clear and concise summaries and bridges for year-on-year and LBE-on-LBE variances

Your Profile:

  • Master’s degree in finance or related field

  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in an international work environment

  • You will need to be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, working both as part of a team and independently, whilst being forward thinking and finding solutions to further develop the processes and reporting within the Business Unit.

  • Candidate will be expected to have a sound Financial accounting knowledge with experience in either Practice or Industry required whilst having excellent excel skills and a mindset of learning and growth to develop within the role.

  • Ability to drive change amongst commercial leaders, influencing decisions within the business.

  • Strong experience with Excel and an established data-cube system (hyperion, Dodeca etc).

  • Strong SAP system knowledge.

  • Confident in framing complex data sets and financial tools in a simple and easy to understand way pitched at the stakeholders delivered to.

  • Attention to detail with extensive review skills to identify errors/deviations
