Actalent Quality Assurance Technician in Zanesville, Ohio

We are looking to add a Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician in the Zanesville area! This is a long-term career opportunity and we are looking for someone that wants to grow with the company long-term.

This role will primarily be performing testing on food products and an ideal candidate will either have experience working in QA with food products OR will have a Bachelors degree in a scientific field. We would potentially consider an Associates degree as well depending on coursework.

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician will be spend about 50% of their time performing laboratory testing and 50% of their time on the production floor. Will perform the quality assurance inspections and laboratory analyses required by client to satisfy USDA, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point Program (HACCP), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). This position requires inspection of facilities, raw materials, products, and microbiological and chemical analyses of meats with the ability to halt production should product integrity be at stake.

Essential Functions:

  • Inspect and analyze meat raw materials and finished products using physical, chemical, and microbiological methods

  • Perform preoperational and operational plant inspections of the entire facility, inside and outside;

  • Monitor incoming and outgoing shipments of product

  • Responsible for inspecting incoming loads of raw material and outgoing shipments of product for conformance to specifications and referring deviations to supervisory personnel

  • Check the condition of incoming raw material and packaging supply trucks;

  • Special attention and strict adherence must be given to the Quality Assurance Guidelines at all times to ensure the wholesomeness of our product;

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization within the quality assurance laboratories and keep supplies readily available for production workers;

  • Determine blend size, collect samples, and analyze blends for fat percentage;

  • Document information in accordance with plant programs (HACCP, SSOP’s and GMP’s);

  • Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures;

  • Adhere to Plant’s security and safety policies and procedures;

  • Communicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor and be responsive to the teams’ needs.

Qualifications:

We would consider a few different backgrounds of experience, primarily including the following:

  • Bachelors Degree in a scientific field (can be entry-level)

  • Associates Degree in a scientific field depending on coursework and work experience (potentially open to entry-level)

  • High School Diploma or GED AND a couple years of experience in Quality Assurance in a food based work environment.
