Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania Summer Camp Nurse, York area in York, Pennsylvania

Interested in a great job that is fun and benefits many? We have one waiting for you. Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a 100+ year old non-profit organization providing programs and services to children and adults with disabilities/special needs.

We have an opening for a camp nurse and would love to have you join us. Come help individuals with disabilities stay healthy while they foster independence, gain new skills and build long lasting friendships in a camp setting. The schedule and hours vary and are based on the schedule of each camp. Currently, we have a camp planned for mid-June. Nurses are paid a stipend for the duration of the camp. 

JOB SUMMARY-Camp Nurse

The Camp Nurse is responsible for providing medical care for campers (with and without disabilities) attending the Easterseals camps.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • RN or LPN required.
  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certifications required.
  • Current valid PA drivers license and acceptable driving record obtained through the PA Department of Transportation required.
  • Acceptable Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse History and FBI Clearance required.
  • Passing of physical examination and TB required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES-Camp Nurse

  • Provide 24 hour on-call care for the entire time that camp is in process.
  • Maintain medical records for all campers.
  • Dispense and record all prescription and non-prescription dosages.
  • Participate in daily camp operations.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EQUIPMENT USED/MACHINERY REQUIRED TO OPERATE

Includes, but is not limited to:

  • First Aid and medical supplies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 40 pounds (Note: two-person lift is required for weights greater than 25 pounds or mechanical devices are available for assistance) as needed.
  • Required to walk, bend, squat, reach and move about the majority of the time; may involve sitting for brief periods of time.
