Direct hire (permanent) opportunity for a robotics packaging automation company in York, PA.

Overview

The Product Engineer will work with a leader in primary and secondary packaging machinery for the food manufacturing industry using cutting-edge robotics technology. Job Objective

This position works closely with Directors , Managers and Advanced Development Engineers to transform current custom equipment into standardized products/assemblies. The result will be a better value proposition for our customers in terms of lead time, price, functionality, and quality.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for standardizing existing custom product lines in accordance with company goals and market specifications.

  • Responsible for product maintenance on standardized products/assemblies for quality, functionality, and cost.

  • Responsible for testing of new standard. products/assemblies in-house and external.

  • Responsible for value engineering within existing products/assemblies.

  • Manages the projects for the standardization efforts including the development of the timeline, predicted resource needs, and engineering budget.

  • Directs, and coordinates personnel activities concerned with standardization projects in the engineering department.

  • Leads reviews at designated project lifecycle intervals to ensure that project requirements and goals are met.

  • Participate in establishing an ERP configurator which will allow us to streamline the ordering process.

  • Collaborates extensively with operations, on fabrication methods, vendor selection, assembly routing, assembly batch count, and stock levels.

  • Trains or contributes to classes promoting the standardized products/assemblies internally through the company.

  • Participates in developing and refining a product maintenance process.

  • Provides technical and engineering support on standard products/assemblies.

  • Investigate failure of standardized products/assemblies on customer sites, if necessary.

  • Supports and serves as a resource to application engineers using standard products/assemblies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and organization.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated success in an industrial and/or capital equipment manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrates high-level mechanical engineering skills standardizing products in an automation environment.

  • Demonstrates a good understanding of electrical design and industrial software functionality.

  • Proficient in SolidWorks and its various tools to rapidly configure 3D models and generate the consequent 2D drawings.

  • Proficient in MS Office.

  • Knowledgeable with ERP software and experience deploying product configuration capabilities.

  • Knowledge of hygienic design a plus.

  • Knowledge of food automation a plus.

  • Demonstrated outstanding written and verbal communication.

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

  • Strong decision-making skills and results-driven approach.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion.

  • Ability to travel up to 15% to support business activities.

  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
