JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State York is actively seeking applicants for their Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) Academy Team Coordinator position. The STEAM Academy is a partnership program between Penn State York and the School District of the City of York. The program, originally for middle school-aged students and now expanding to other grades, serves as a link between school, work, and community with an emphasis on integrated skills, field experiences, and community service. The academy reinforces and expands participants' knowledge of science, math, and other critical subjects. Students at the STEAM Academy utilize the engineering design process to reinforce practical life skills and develop leadership, collaboration, problem solving and other attributes that are required to be successful future members of the region's workforce.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required.
Reporting directly to the Director of Academic Affairs at Penn State York, this part time, 20-hours per week position will organize and oversee the various aspects of the STEAM Academy program governance to include: Maintain communication with building administrators and attend leadership meetings at the STEAM Academy (Edgar Fahs Smith School in York) Support the STEAM team in establishing an activity calendar Manage efforts for classroom technology integration and training in tandem with the STEAM Teacher and Technology Education Teacher at the STEAM location and the Director of IT at Penn State York Meet regularly with teachers in their planning sessions to learn about their units of study, curriculum, and goals for the year Serving as liaison between Penn State York and the School District of the City of York, the STEAM coordinator will be responsible for coordination of various STEAM Academy teacher trainings, guest speakers, special events, STEAM student project teams and activities, site visits and field trips. Will also assist with organizing school events, such as academic fairs, family nights, and supporting the principal with scheduling logistics for Academy teachers.
The Coordinator will have office space at the STEAM Academy and will be expected to be present at Penn State York routinely for meetings, program coordination efforts, and to submit purchasing requests.
