Johnson Controls Machinist Journeyman 1st Shift (Navy Systems) Job Number 441 in York, Pennsylvania

What you will do

Our team at the Grantley Plant custom design, develops, manufactures, ships, installs, and maintains industrial HVAC equipment for Navy vessels of all sizes. This job consists of performing operations involved to set up and operate a CNC, DNC multi axis machine(s).

Location: Â Grantley Plant in York, PA

Shift: Â 1st Shift, Monday-Friday

Pay: Â $31.17 per hour

Union: This is a bargaining unit (union) position.

How you will do it:

  1. Use tool preset machine, precision measuring instruments, hand and hand power tools, deburr tools and appropriate material handling equipment.

  2. Work from drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape program, instructions, or visual display units.

  3. Perform fixture change-overs, loading and unloading of production parts, on-line piece parts inspection and manual data input to insure specified finishes, tolerances.

  4. Maintain tooling and backup tooling (where necessary).

  5. Monitor control messages and take appropriate corrective action.

  6. Perform utility functions to maintain process.

  7. Will perform housekeeping and deburr internal to machining operations.

  8. Fills out PM check lists and may assist in the PM of the machine.

  9. Use precision measuring instruments, gauges, hand tools, tool setting equipment, appropriate material handling equipment.

    Qualifications

    What we look for

Required

  • Ability to read shop prints, mathematics, handbook formulas, precision measuring instrument, process sheets, program tapes.

  • Knowledge of N/C controlled machines and shop practices equivalent to 1 to 2 years trades training.

  • Ability to setup and operate any tape of tape controlled milling and frilling machines for all specified machining operations. Judgment required to plan, perform, make general decisions within prescribed quality, tolerance, limitations.

  • Ability to perform moderate physical effort working continuously with light weight or frequently with average weight materials

  • U.S. citizenÂ

  • This position requires proof of a Journeyman's Certification.

    Preferred

  1. Experience with set-up and operation of CNC machines, preferably with Horizontal Boring Mills, SNK, and Mori Seiki.
