Position Summary: The Field Service -- Controls & Automation Technician will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, commissioning, repair, training and technical support of assigned orders relating to automation, controls and electronic products within a customer's location and/or within RG Group. Additionally, the Field Service - Controls & Automation Technician will be responsible for timely and quality service, supervision, and the design/quote process for assigned orders as they will be the subject matter expert. Essential Functions:     1. Fabricate, commission, install, troubleshoot and repair controls/automation systems & equipment     2. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on controls/automation systems by utilizing reference materials including manuals, drawings and procedures     3. Troubleshoot controls/automation systems using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems.     4. Conduct tests, inspections and evaluation of mechanical, electrical and software components relating to controls/automation systems and equipment     5. Build electrical panels and the wiring of electrical devices.     6. Seek sales opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction. In addition to keep accurate records of service calls, maintain inventory of service parts, tools, and test equipment.     7. Set parameters, positioning and sequences for an automation system     8. Calibrate equipment to achieve optimum performance     9. When needed, provide support and backup for the fabrication, assembly and installation of pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems and all product supporting these systems     10. Develops an organized approach to solving problems     11. Operate independently in the field and directly with customers     12. Respond to customer emergency service requests     13. Assist with updates and modifications to control/automation systems at customer sites and training customers on the use and maintenance of equipment.     14. Be responsible for delivering high quality service and customer satisfaction, as well as, working well with the team and providing support/ coverage as per business needs.     15. Facilitate project management as a supporting role to the Project Manager     16. Overnight travel is required Knowledge, skills and abilities (minimum job competencies required for the job:     1. Knowledge of design and product specifications as it relates to controls, automation systems, pneumatic systems and hydraulic systems.     2. Knowledge of and familiarity with controls, automation systems and electronic components, including drawings and schematics     3. Knowledge of and familiarity with pneumatic systems and hydraulic systems, including drawings and schematics     4. Experience with fabrication and field installation of controls, automation systems, pneumatic systems and hydraulic systems.     5. Ability to work safely in any environment and comply with any customer or agency safety requirements.     6. Good math and reading skills     7. Skills to effectively manage time and meet all necessary deadlines     8. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal     9. Demonstrated dependability and ability to work independently     10. Able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally     11. Able to spend majority of day on feet in a manufacturing environment.     12. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Environment: - Office, Customer facilities, and job sites - Must have flexibility in work hours including evenings and weekends - Light to Moderate travel required, some overnight and international travel required Education and Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent required.
