Job Information

UPMC Cardiology Technician in York, Pennsylvania

Perform specialized clinical functions related to Enhanced External Counter pulsation and Outpatient Clinic. This position will work dayshift hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Exercise stress testing.

  • Prep and prepare patients for holter and event monitors.

  • Review patient's education regarding EECP treatment and possible side effects.

  • Assist EECP patient with processing the financial account and prepare disbursement request for individual patients as needed.

  • Receive results from diagnostic studies such as lab work, EKG's and X-ray. Ensure prompt review and notify appropriate personnel immediately of abnormal results.

  • Assess health history, takes vital signs, & reviews medications

  • Provide specialized clinical care to EECP patients.

  • Perform six-minute walk tests.

  • Provide care to adult and geriatric patient. Document EECP process in patient's medical charts.

  • Download reports and maintain holter and event database.

  • Coordinate patient visits and schedules patients for additional studies if needed. Draw and process blood samples as needed. Complete all appropriate protocol forms and communicate with the clinical nurse coordinator and physician in charge.

  • Perform correct and accurate charge entry for testing.

  • Order supplies as needed for EECP clinic and Outpatient Clinic.

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required

  • 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, Cardiovascular Technician or a Paramedic is required.

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program is preferred.

  • Knowledgeable in anatomy and physiology of the heart.

  • Ability to think and act independently. Computer skills are highly preferred.

  • Basic arrythmia course and pass written exam with 80% score or higher. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 34
