Quality Control/Level II NDT Inspector

General Summary Klute, Inc. is seeking a full-time NDT Level II Inspector to perform inspections on material to ensure that material meets customer specifications. Performs nondestructive examination (NDE) on material using methods including; visual, magnetic particle an ultrasonic testing. This is a full-time permanent position andwill not require travel.

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION

Perform inspections and dimensional checking on material to ensure that material meets customer specifications. Perform nondestructive examination (NDE) on material using methods including: visual, magnetic particle and ultrasonic testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable quality of products from raw materials, to the fabrication of pieces and parts, and through the final assembly.
  • Accountable for accurate decision-making on workmanship, and weld qualities by using the method of testing required for the order.
  • Use time management to insure that no production time is lost and that the quality of the product meets specifications.
  • Report unacceptable quality to the company's President
  • Coordinating root cause analysis of defective products and presenting the findings to the quality assurance manager.
  • Routine monitoring of compliance with customer specifications and company work instructions.
  • Ensure products are fabricated to project requirements.
  • Help in maintaining NCR reports.
  • Use shop prints to perform dimensional inspection of product before welding to ensure proper fit up of pieces.
  • Perform visual inspection of completed welds and product.
  • Responsible for generating and maintaining NDE reports and records.
  • Responsible for performing UT and or MT on required welds.
  • Responsible for documentation of all welds completed by welders.
  • Present required inspection reports to customers as required.
  • Report all unsafe conditions and product that does not meet quality standards to supervisors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree in manufacturing processes or related field.
  • UT and MT Certification

Experience

  • Certification as a NDT Level II with 1 year experience.
  • Ability/competency reading blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of AISC preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing quality assurance system (preferred).
  • Non-destructive testing experience
  • Ability to work in a heavy steel fabrication shop environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Standing and/or walking 50%
  • Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Ability to view computer monitor
  • Frequent alpha/numeric keyboarding
