Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, the P/T Senior Technical Assistant/ HSE Examiner assists with the administration of the High School Equivalency Examination. The incumbent receives instruction from the Testing Coordinator.

The P/T Senior Technical Assistant/HSE Examiner assists in the administration of the New York State high school equivalency exam and performs related administrative tasks. They administer the tests at scheduled times according to all applicable procedures, laws and regulations; prepare the exam setting, process test candidates and communicates effectively with test candidates taking into consideration the varied educational levels and backgrounds of those requiring information.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess one of the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree from a nationally accredited college or university and experience in teaching, training, counseling, or testing;

  • An Associate's degree from a nationally accredited college or university and three years of experience in teaching, training, counseling, or testing; or college-level coursework and experience as a testing proctor at the discretion of the jurisdictional GED Administrator.

The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to meet deadlines. The successful candidate must also be able to work with colleagues within the organization and with external agencies and have effective communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in an educational institution is strongly preferred. Prior experience as a test proctor is also strongly preferred.

Additional Information:

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $26.42 per hour. No benefits. This position is fully grant funded.

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 4 hours per day. Some evening hours required.
