Westchester Community College P/T Program Specialist (WCC) / /ESL in Yonkers, New York

The Program Specialist (WCC) will manage the English Language Institute (ELI) programs at the Ossining and Peekskill extension centers and at the Valhalla campus, including testing, on-site open houses & registration, and faculty coordination & supervision. The Program Specialist serves as one of the ELI's International (F-1) Student Advisors and is responsible for issuing I-20s and tracking compliance. The incumbent is also responsible for managing textbook selections for all ELI programs, including selecting appropriate textbooks, ordering books through the FSA bookstore and an outside vendor. As a member of the ELI administrative team, the incumbent will also assist with special projects, such as the end of terms reporting and printing of certificates, managing the distribution and collection of course evaluations, as well as managing routine and emergency communications between faculty and students, promoting programs under their management to optimize enrollment, coordinating substitutes and make-up classes during teacher absences, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in the field of education, educational administration, recruitment and/or training, or in the analysis of program operations, marketing or customer service are required. The successful candidate must possess knowledge of education programs and administrative procedures in an educational environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Spanish or Portuguese language proficiency preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn a variety of software packages used in program operation is also preferred.

Additional Information: SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $67,417. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $83,518. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position including both daytime hours and regular evening coverage. Regular travel from one site to another is required for program management and oversight.
