American Sugar Holdings, Inc. Crane Operator in Yonkers, New York

General Requirements:
1.Experience in operating a Pedestal Mounted, Whirley Crane; Revolving with a Luffing Boom.
2.Hold required New York State Crane Certificate(s) as required to operate above specified crane.
3.Become a member or pay dues to International Union of Operating Engineers Local 14-14B.
4.Possess, or be eligible to obtain, a Transit Workers Identification Card (TWIC), including ability to meet the security clearance/background check requirements.


ASR Specific Requirements:
1.Operate raw sugar unloading crane as per the schedule determined by ASR.
2.Maintain the performance and condition of the raw sugar crane through use of daily checklists. Work with mechanics to perform routine maintenance and emergency crane repairs as needed.
3.Follow all site-wide ASR safety rules, Dock-specific safety rules, and Crane safety procedures.
4.Attend daily “tailgate” meetings, monthly safety meetings, monthly environmental meetings and all other meetings as ASR determines.

Crane Operator Duties:

  1. Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
  2. Perform actions to operate cranes, cherry pickers, electromagnets, or other moving equipment for lifting, moving, or placing loads. Actions include but are not limited to: operating hand levers, depressing foot pedals, or turn dials or other analog or digital control mechanisms.
  3. Inspect cables or grappling devices for wear, and install or replace cables, as needed.
  4. Clean, lubricate, and maintain mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, or grappling devices, making repairs as necessary.
  5. Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms or lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions or damage.
  6. Review daily work or delivery schedules to determine orders, sequences of deliveries, or special loading instructions; and modify daily work based on these schedules, sequences or instructions.
