Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho Facilities Technician ($30/hr) in Yakima, Washington

Description

The Facilities Team at Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho (PPGWNI) is on the lookout for a Facilities Technician!  The Facilities Technician provides general facilities maintenance for PPGWNI's buildings and infrastructure including health centers, utility systems, grounds, property and equipment. 

This is a full time position at 37.5 hours/week working Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday work as our schedule balances the needs of both our staff and our patients. This position does require travel to various PPGWNI health centers across Central and Eastern Washington and North Idaho 40-80% of the time - valid unencumbered driver's license, proof of insurance, and personal vehicle required.

For business reasons, candidates being considered for this role must reside in Central/Eastern Washington. Wage rate for this position will be re-evaluated for increase at 1 year of employment.

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is an essential requirement of working at PPGWNI religious and medical exemptions will be considered upon request.  

*Core responsibilities *

  • Provides  general  building  maintenance  duties  such  as  changing  light  bulbs,  general plumbing, HVAC, general carpentry and building repairs, painting, electrical repairs, changing furnace filters, facilitating any vendors onsite and any specific work items requested from management.
  • Provides general labor including picking up trash and  general landscaping duties such as running and repairing sprinklers. Items may include any  repairs  to the exterior due to acts of vandalism, violence and/or weather elements.
  • Responds to after-hours facility related emergencies and determines appropriate course of action to resolve issues. May involve working pre-approved occasional overtime. Must be able to work on site to address urgent issues and projects.
  • Working under minimal supervision, politely and promptly addresses needs in a friendly manner providing assistance and direction while maintaining confidentiality and in conformance to HIPAA.
  • Ensures  that  maintenance  duties  performed  by  vendors  and  contractors  are  met  to  PPGWNI standards and corrects deficiencies and/or supplements duties as appropriate depending on skill level and expertise. 
  • Provides janitorial support including light plumbing, mopping, and cleaning to ensure that patients and employees are able to access the building and equipment. Clears walkways by providing light snow removal, raking, and communicating weather specific needs to the Facilities manager.
  • Participates in safety and security initiatives and reports observations back to Facilities manager to ensure that the building procedures are being followed. Works collaboratively with Security and IT staff to resolve issues and provides additional monitoring of building and property to enhance security efforts.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.  Ensure assigned equipment is functioning properly.

Required qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required

Certification  demonstrating  expertise  in  related  field  with  knowledge  of  local,  state  and  federal regulations a plus.

Valid State driver's license and personal vehicle insurance required to travel on affiliate business.

Minimum of 3-5 years experience facilities/maintenance experience that includes maintenance of buildings and primary systems. 

Work experience in a medical or same day surgical center with on-site administrative offices preferred.
