Description POSITION TITLE: Administrative Assistant and Receptionist STATUS: Full time/Non-Exempt DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Corps Officers MISSION STATEMENT: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must: Possess a positive Christian experience and be willing and able to share it. Be at least 21 years of age. Have an understanding and acceptance of The Salvation Army's mission, philosophy, programs, and practices. Have obtained H.S. Diploma or GED. Some college and/or degree preferred. On the job experience may be substituted for educational requirements. Have five or more years' experience working in a church or non-profit setting Have the ability to plan and schedule events, programs, and activities. Have the ability to plan, direct, and evaluate the work of subordinates. Have experience working with volunteers and employees in both team and supervisory roles. Have a basic knowledge of Word and Excel Programs, and general computer knowledge. SCOPE OF POSITION: The Administrative Assistant and Receptionist is responsible for many of the daily administrative tasks, as well as the first line of communication with the community seeking services and program information. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage all incoming and outgoing mail Ingest bills and invoices into AP Workflow Scan and input receipt information into CARE program Record and send all checks received through Deluxe program Assist with Sunday count and make weekly deposit Answer all incoming calls and direct where needed through The Salvation Army Yakima network Assist the Corps Officers with seasonal events (i.e.: Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions, Angel Tree, Adopt A Family, Project 700, Red Kettle Kick Off, and any other events as needed) Perform other administrative functions as requested Assist the corps officers in planning and implementation of special events Other duties as requested by the Corps Officers PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead Ability to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; Ability to operate telephone Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer Ability to lift 20 lbs.
