Jacobs Substations Engineer Lead (m/w/d) in WURZBURG, Germany

Jacobs is committed to playing a leadership role in Global Energy Transition. Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we’re looking for a Substations Engineer Lead (m/w/d) to help provide support to projects across Jacobs’ markets.
Our Power and Energy team provides a range of services to our transmission and distribution clients. This includes work on transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage systems.
You will be accountable for the following tasks including but not limited to:
Provide Leadership on the FEED and detail design workstream for TSOs (50Hertz, Amprion, Tennet, TransnetBW)
Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, Detailed design and bids for the substation up to 380kV AC and 600kV DC
Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work
Review the HV plant aspects of different projects including HV layouts, earthing design and reports, mechanical interlocking, HV busbar calculations and technical specification for the HV plant equipment
Coordination with back-office engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers as required
Attending and chair the design review and Hazard review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages as required
Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required
Strong communication skills along with teamworking attributes
Customer focused when dealing with customers, identifying their needs along with business development skills
Here’s what you’ll need :
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience
State-Certified Engineer or Chartered Engineer through the IET or equivalent
Track record of leading teams in the delivery of Front-End Engineering and design or Detailed design of EHV (150kV AC & DC upwards) substation/converter projects
Minimum 12 years of experience working for a client organisation such as transmission system owner/operator, distribution network operator or a design consultancy delivering to such organisation
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Experience in coaching and developing junior engineers
Flexibility to travel to client sites when required
Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
Proven record of ability to manage tender packages as tender manager and doing HV plant aspects of technical offers
