Jacobs Substation Engineering Manager (m/w/d) in WURZBURG, Germany

Your Impact:

Jacobs is committed to playing a leadership role in Global Energy Transition. Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we’re looking for a Substation Engineering Manager (m/w/d) to help provide support to projects across Jacobs’ markets.

Our Power and Energy team provides a range of services to our transmission and distribution clients. This includes work on transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage systems.

You will be accountable for the following tasks including but not limited to:

  • Provide overall technical lead on the FEED and detail design workstream for TSOs (50Hertz, Amprion, Tennet, TransnetBW)

  • Managing design works, monitoring and reporting via programme update, trackers and progress meetings helping to prepare schedules of work, work breakdown structures, and risk schedules

  • Ensuring all designs are appropriately reviewed and approved in line with best practice, Jacobs procedures and by an appropriately qualified individual

  • Contribute to Health and safety management of design including application of CDM regulations

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the health and safety framework, policies and management system requirements and expectations

  • Develop and maintain an awareness of SHE hazards and associated risks and demonstrate a commitment to eliminate or minimise those risks

  • Work with the resource manager to expand the team and with the existing team to improve/implement efficient design processes

  • Work with the wider team to ensure designs are sustainable and support environmental and planning aspects of the works

  • Deal with any issues arising from the construction teams

  • Strong communication skills along with teamworking attributes

  • Customer-focused when dealing with customers, identifying their needs along with business development skills

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.

  • State-Certified Engineer or Chartered Engineer through the IET or equivalent

  • Track record of leading teams in the delivery of Front-End Engineering and design or Detailed design of EHV (150kV AC & DC upwards) substation/converter projects

  • Minimum 15 Years of experience working for a client organisation such as transmission system owner/operator, distribution network operator or a design consultancy delivering to such organisation

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience in coaching and developing junior engineers

  • Flexibility to travel to client sites when required

  • Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
