Description

Under the direction of the After-School Director, the After-School Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and coordination of program and staff. The Coordinator is directly responsible for planning and organizing all daily activities/curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide staff with the appropriate leadership during the program.

  • Develop and plan activities that incorporate program goals into the daily routine.

  • Assist with training and supervision of staff.

  • Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for staff, students and families.

  • Maintain open communication between staff and school personnel.

  • Prepare activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the students.

  • Communicate with the parents at pick up.

  • Maintain a safe environment for students.

  • Submit all written correspondence to the After-School Director for approval prior to distribution.

  • Maintain records of attendance and sign-in/out sheets and turn them in to the After-School Director every Friday.

  • Attend and plan the agenda for the monthly staff meeting with After-School Director.

  • Maintain a positive attitude toward co-workers and the Worcester Public Schools.

  • Report any problems, which arise with students, other employees, or the school to the After-School Director.

  • Responsible for all activity and room preparations for the program.

  • Ensure that all classrooms are neat and orderly.

  • Keep supplies neat and well inventoried.

  • Request supplies for the program from the After-School Director.

  • Assist with required student measurement tools.

  • Be flexible and adaptable to new situations.

  • Be willing to become certified in CPR and First Aid

  • Responsible for 12 hours of in-service trainings.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education preferred but not required.

  • Must be at least 20 years of age.

  • Must have at least one year of previous experience working with elementary school aged students.

  • Possess basic knowledge and understanding of school ages students.

  • Possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
