Eaton Corporation Lab Technician in Woodridge, Illinois

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Lab Technician. The Electronics Lab Technician will be part of the engineering lab group responsible for testing and qualification of electronic circuits and products.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $58,500 - $85,800 a year.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with our product development team

  • Perform design testing and functionality testing on analog (up to 500V) and digital circuits and complete products.

  • Perform design testing and functionality testing of firmware/software.

  • Receive test requirements/plans provided by Hardware and Firmware Engineers and collaborate with engineers during the testing process when anomalies are found.

  • Perform initial bring up and testing of prototype boards.

  • Generate complete test documentation of test setup and results.

  • Build or modify prototype circuits and products.

  • Design and build cabling, interconnects and fixtures necessary to test prototype boards and products.

  • Assist with the creation of test procedures

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or in lieu of degree 2 years’ experience working with electronics, or mechanical/electrical devices or Military experience

  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with electronics, or mechanical/electrical devices.

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Chicago, IL will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Visio.

  • Ability to create automated testing for recurring test processes.

  • TUV, UL and EMC testing experience.

  • Experience with high voltage (500V) power circuits.

Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of electricity and electronic theory, experience with digital logic, Microprocessor systems, switching power supplies and analog amplifier/filter circuits.

  • Ability to read and understand schematics and locate components on PCBs using Altium Designer PCB viewer.

  • Capable of diagnosis and repair of analog and digital circuits down to the component level.

  • Competent and skilled at soldering. Capable of reworking/replacing through hole and small (0402) or fine pitch (TQFP) SMT components.

  • Proficient in the use of lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, meters, function generators, programmable power supplies and programmable loads.
