Social Security Administration Supervisory Building Management Specialist in Woodlawn, Maryland

Summary See QUALIFICATIONS for important information about this position. Serves as full Deputy and "alter ego" to the Office Director, Office of Buildings Management, and is responsible and accountable for the overall program management, direction, planning, objectives, policymaking and coordination of the Office of Buildings Management. Responsibilities Assumes full responsibility for operations in the absence of the Office Director and acts on all matters with full authority of commitment within assigned jurisdiction. Performs confidential and sensitive assignments for the Office Director and speaks on his/her behalf at internal and external meetings and conferences. Provides leadership in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of policies, initiatives and procedures in support of major aspects of SSA's facilities management programs. Plans a continuing and comprehensive evaluation of the office's operations to define priorities and ensure its efficient and effective operations and provision of personnel and organizational related building operations of the agency. Serves as principal advisor to the Associate Commissioner, Office of Facilities and Logistics Management (OFLM) on all matters related to ongoing buildings operations. Participates in long range planning to ensure the integration of office objectives with the agency's initiatives. Provides leadership to subordinate employees and serves as the advisor to upper-level managers on the full range of operations, administrative and/or personnel management issues specific to the office directed. Plans, organizes, coordinates, manages and administers SSA's comprehensive facilities management for all buildings at SSA headquarters. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS To qualify for this GS-14 Supervisory Building Management Specialist (Deputy Office Director) position you must demonstrate at least 52 weeks of Specialized Experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE must have been gained in a federal position at or above GS-13 OR (if your position and/or experience is in another federal pay scale OR outside of federal service) by performing duties at a level of responsibility and difficulty equivalent to GS-13. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is work that primarily consists of leading or managing complex agency-level programs; i.e., establishing goals, performance standards and internal controls for project work to ensure that activities meet established agency objectives and priorities. If you have this experience, your resume must describe, in your own words, the duties you perform that demonstrate it. Since Specialized Experience also has a time component, it must be evident that the duties you describe are at the required level for at least 52 weeks. You will be required to report to SSA Headquarters in Woodlawn, Maryland. To participate in telework, you must reside within a 2-hour commute to the assigned duty station. Relocation expenses will not be paid; salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Successful performance of work in this position and adherence to conditions of this position will be assessed during the 1-year probationary period served that may be served by new appointees (e.g., new to SSA and/or new to this series). This is a high-risk public trust position. You may be required to complete Standard Form 85P, Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions, to have the appropriate investigation conducted. You may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period for supervisors, unless you previously completed one or served in such a position before August 11, 1979.
