What does the role look like?

The successful candidate will ensure seamless relocation of production lines and machinery within our global operations. This role involves planning, executing, and finalizing work transfer projects efficiently, within budget, and to high-quality standards.

Key responsibilities include initial planning, designing new production setups, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and managing the installation, validation, and optimization of manufacturing processes at new locations.

This role suits an ambitious, detail-oriented engineer who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about driving efficiency and excellence in manufacturing. Extensive international travel will be required.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Project Management: Lead the technical aspects of work transfer projects from inception to completion. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, risk assessments, and budgets. Monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide engineering expertise in planning and executing production line moves. Assess existing processes, design and lay out new production setups, select and install equipment, and oversee validation activities.

  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, supply chain, and facility management, to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to work transfers.

  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all work transfer activities are documented in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality records.

  • Continuous Improvement: Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to optimize work transfer processes. Identify and implement improvements to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and improve quality.

  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to local teams at both sending and receiving sites. Ensure staff are properly trained on new equipment and processes.

  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors involved in the transfer process. Negotiate contracts, oversee work quality, and ensure timelines are met.

  • Post-Transfer Evaluation: Conduct post-transfer reviews to assess the effectiveness of the transfer process. Gather feedback from key stakeholders and implement lessons learned in future projects.

What will you bring to the role?

Essential skills:

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively across all organizational levels and with stakeholders, locally and internationally.

  • Industry and International Experience: Aerospace / Similar industry experience and managing projects across different countries, dealing with international logistics and cross-cultural communication.

  • Collaborative and Proactive: Strong teamwork skills, building relationships with colleagues and external partners. Takes initiative to anticipate problems, seek improvements, and propose solutions.

Desirable skills:

  • Educational Background: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Project Management: Proven experience in leading and managing complex projects in manufacturing or industrial settings, with familiarity in project management tools and software.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong skills in manufacturing processes, equipment design, and automation, with proficiency in CAD software for production layouts. Direct experience in work transfer projects, including planning, executing, and optimizing production line relocations.

  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement: Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma. Certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt) is advantageous.

  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

  • Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work under pressure, displaying resilience and persistence in the face of setbacks.

  • Technical Certifications: Relevant certifications in manufacturing engineering, project management (e.g., PMP), or specific technologies.

  • Software Proficiency: Experience with project management, ERP, or MRP software.

  • Training and Development: Experience in developing and delivering training materials to upskill the workforce at new sites.

  • Detail-Oriented and Creative: Maintains attention to detail, ensuring precision and compliance in all aspects of work transfer projects. Brings creative approaches to engineering challenges.
