Scientific Systems Company, Inc. Senior Software Engineer - Space Planning in Woburn, Massachusetts

SSCI is looking to fill a Senior Software Engineer - Space Planning position for software projects relating to autonomous space systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Help us build satellite planning & scheduling software, optimization, Mission Management, and Autonomous Spacecraft Flight Software and deploy it to space for on-orbit demonstrations.

  • Lead software development, implementation, testing and support for embedded software systems onboard autonomous spacecraft.

  • Work as part of a team to design, implement, and test resource management/planning/scheduling software for autonomous satellites in constellation/cluster/RPO/single-vehicle missions.

Requirements

Required Skills/Experience

  • 6+ years’ experience in R&D of Space/Robotics/Autonomous Systems Software

  • Experience with IDE-based object-oriented programming in C/C++ in Linux environment, and either Python or Matlab.

  • Experience with distributed optimization algorithms.

  • Experience with Constraint Handling, heuristics for planning and optimization, bidding, and objective scoring methods.

  • Experience with Aerospace algorithms, such as coordinate frame transforms, orbit propagation.

  • Experience and working knowledge of orbital dynamics, multiple orbit regimes.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Familiarity with spacecraft payloads

  • Experience with spacecraft sensor integration

  • Experience with developing and testing embedded software for SmallSats / CubeSats, satellite mission planning, and ground systems

  • Proficiency with Linux ARM and CMake, and embedded system software development

  • Familiarity with space Modeling & Simulation (STK, GMAT, OreKit, FreeFLyer)
