Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products and introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development and qualification from market definition through production release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility and manufacturability studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, products specifications, and testing requirements. Typical fields of expertise include materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into a system.

As a Product Development Rotational Engineering on our North America Transportation Solutions team, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Utilize various solid modeling and finite element analysis software packages to develop product concepts

  • Work with product documentation such as, solid models, drawings, product and application specifications, tolerance analysis, and test plans & reports

  • Work with manufacturing teams to build the foundation for product development for manufacturability

  • Experience failure prevention and analysis tools

  • Develop communication skills while working with cross-functional product launch teams

Responsibilities

  • Complete multiple 12-week assignment to different product development and manufacturing teams over a 2-year duration

  • Perform product development tasks with guidance from an experienced product development engineer or manager

  • Network with other engineers, cross-functional team members, employee resource groups and management

  • Complete a capstone project at the end of the 2-year rotation

What your background should look like:

You’re the kind of person we are looking for if you:

  • Have Received a High School Diploma or GED

  • Are currently enrolled in a program or pursuing a BA/BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university or have equivalent work history. (In certain circumstances, students who are taking a gap year will be considered.)

  • Have previous internship or large project experience is preferred

  • Experience with technical tools such as 3D CAD Software and CAE software

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written)

  • Effective problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly design principals

  • Are authorized to work in the U.S.
