Cook Medical Injection Molding Technician in Winston Salem, North Carolina
Overview
The Injection Mold Technician is responsible for the set up and break down of Injection Molding and Auxiliary equipment. This position is also responsible for assurance of the quality of parts being molded, trialing of new and modified molds, machine maintenance, removing of runners and scrapping of non-conforming parts/materials, in an ISO 13485 team environment. This position is a Direct position and will work with the production teams as required. This position works under moderate supervision.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate plastic injection molding machines to mold thermoplastic parts.
Observe continuous operation of injection molding machines to ensure that parts meet specifications and to detect any machine malfunctions or product defects, making adjustments as necessary.
Measure and visually inspect products for surface and dimension defects to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
Mold installation and start-up, shutdown and removal.
De burr and clean parts as necessary.
Review written procedures for operation of new equipment.
Complete PMs as assigned.
Ensure all auxiliary equipment is set to the correct settings per specification.
Troubleshooting and understanding the machine functions/setting issues.
Ensure correct raw material is being supplied to the molding equipment, and proper material drying specifications are being followed.
Perform maintenance work such as cleaning and oiling machines.
Observe machine parameters and gauges to verify consistency of temperatures, pressures, and cycle times, etc.
Optimize process to reduce scrap and improve throughput.
Daily/Weekly maintenance and cleaning of machines including lubrication. Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials.
Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, improper operations and/or unusual conditions to supervisor.
Assist/Train production personnel on operation of new and existing machines.
Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition according to housekeeping procedures and safety policies.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Completion of High School diploma and a 2- or 4-year Mechanical degree (Experience can be substituted for Education and Vice Versa).
Ability to do intermediate tool construction.
Must have intermediate computer skill (Microsoft Office)
2 - year minimum experience as a die setter
Must be Self-motivated, ability to follow-up on task through to completion.
Minimum of 5 years in a cGMP manufacturing environment
Previous leadership experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to stay in constant motion for the entire shift including walking twisting, lifting, bending, etc.
Able to stand for extended periods during the shift
