Millerbernd Manufacturing Co. Design Drafter 2 or 3 in Winsted, Minnesota

NOW HIRING: Millerbernd Manufacturing is hiring a Design Drafter 2 or 3 to join our team! This role will be responsible for creating/developing detailed engineered designs and drawings that satisfy Department of Transportation and Customer design requirements, industry specifications, and company standards.

As a Design Drafter, you will:

  • Maintain and influence evolution of standard work for accurate and on-time submittals and calculations

  • Adhere to drafting and design protocols, conventions, and standards

  • Ensure a seamless customer experience across all stages of the design and submittal cycle

  • Maintain efficiency standards while collaborating on limiting product variation efforts

  • Create detailed designs using CAD software to fulfill customer requirements

  • Influence customer preferences with manufacturability; following standards established by leadership

  • Maintain established communication channels through which customers can readily contact the company, and develop new channels as needed in coordination with customer experience team

  • Drive standardization, support continuous improvement efforts in standard work relating to effective design and calculation processes

  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and production drafting teams for effective capturing of shop build standards and maintain as needed

  • Proactively advocate internally for solutions and managing the customer escalation process in regards to DOT standards and specifications

  • Effective communication with field representatives and distributors, in alignment with sales strategies

  • Train other drafters (Design Drafter 3)

  • Act as the point person for the highest complexity drawings and situations (Design Drafter 3)

    Role Qualifications as a Senior Design Drafter III:

  • Associate’s Degree in CAD or closely related technical field

  • Expert knowledge and at least five (5) years of experience in CAD software, preferably Solid Works (Sr. Design Drafter)

  • Expert knowledge in understanding and interpreting mechanical, structural, and engineering drawings and specifications

  • In addition to the Design Drafter qualifications

    Role Qualifications as a Design Drafter II:

  • Associate’s Degree in CAD or closely related technical field

  • Proficient knowledge and at least two (2) years of experience in CAD software, preferably Solid Works

  • Proficient knowledge in understanding and interpreting mechanical, structural, and engineering drawings and specifications

  • Experience with business content or specification development in a technical setting

  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Use effective and appropriate written and verbal communication skills both internally and externally, including; phone and conference calls, video calls, and emails

  • Contributor to problem-solving activities within a team environment

  • Professional, detail oriented in their work, especially customer-facing

  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong skills in math, including fractions, decimals, geometry, and algebraic concepts

  • Next steps would include an on-site interview and tour of the facility to see what you could be doing here at Millerbernd Manufacturing. From here, the hiring manager would discuss the interview with the Team Lead (if applicable) and determine to move forward or not.
