As a Credit Analyst, you’ll monitor and ensure compliance with risk management practices, policies and regulations. You’ll also identify emerging risks, revise risk guidelines and promote a strong risk culture within the organization..

About the Role:

  • Manage complex risk-based decisions to ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance within mortgage lending guidelines.

  • Develop, manage and maintain the credit risk policy framework

  • Assist business units, including Underwriting by monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing daily risk activities, providing guidance on policy interpretation and deal structuring.

  • Support daily risk activities, supporting business units with policy interpretation and deal structuring.

  • Manage the data analysis and review process, liaising with internal and external partners to deliver on requirements

  • Provide credit-related guidance to internal teams to ensure accurate application and interpretation of underwriting policies

  • Represent the Credit team internally and externally as a credit subject matter resource

  • Maintain view to current, revised and emerging regulations and/or standards pertaining residential mortgage lending

  • Serve as second line of escalation regarding issues, including resolution and root cause analysis

  • Prepare reporting, summarizing key case findings and trends for internal and external partners.

  • Contribute towards external broker onboarding due diligence and ongoing monitoring processes

  • Assist in managing defaulted loans, making recommendations, and updating relevant partners in a timely manner.

  • Conduct research and analysis and serve as resource for potential new partnerships and products

  • Serve as key analytical support for credit risk activities, including reporting

  • Produce comprehensive reports using multiple data sources to support risk management decision-making and present data in a clear, actionable format for senior management and stakeholders.

  • Provide support towards external audit activities

  • Contribute towards the development and operationalization of compliance and credit-risk related reporting.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in the mortgage industry in an analytical role

  • Understanding of insured and uninsured mortgage lending policies, processes and requirements

  • Understanding of Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) and Anti-Money Laundering/Fraud-relevant risks and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in roles evaluating loan applications and ensuring quality control throughout the funding process.

  • Experience within the mortgage industry, interfacing with investors, regulators and mortgage default insurance providers
