Description: A Product Definition Checker job is currently available at Belcan in Windsor, CT. This is a full time, direct position with full benefits. Great matching candidates will have the ability to own Product Definition responsibility from conceptual design through to production, working independently and within a multidisciplinary team. You will be signing off on engineering drawings, reviewing engineering packages, performing tolerance studies, and reviewing the work completed by team members with the customer's standards and expectations in mind.

Principle Responsibilities:

  1. Full understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.5 drawing standards.

  2. Full understanding and knowledge of tolerance stack studies.

  3. Works closely with Product Definition team members and consults with Design discipline personnel during execution phase.

  4. Generation of drawing packages.

  5. Preparation of drawing presentation material.

  6. Mechanical design layout creation.

  7. Periodically participate in design reviews.

  8. Processing Engineering Changes.

  9. Interfaces closely with Project Managers and Engineers in responding to requests for quotation.

  10. Develops Product Definition estimates and milestone schedules.

  11. Understands and is expert in the use of CAD (NX, CREO) and other engineering computer programs.

  12. Review conceptual or final mechanical design layout definition of components using 3D modeling and ensure customer requirements of Fit, Form, and Function are met.

  13. Provides technical leadership and direction to assigned team personnel to assure high quality Product Definition work that complies with established Product Definition standards and procedures. Includes checking and directing the work of others to ensure all data required for issuance is complete and accurate.

  14. Effects timely and accurate work scheduling, cost estimating, effort planning and detail/assembly drawing releases based on project schedules and objectives.

  15. Use engineering design basic requirements to determine the appropriate design package content.

  16. Prepare and present model review presentations.

  17. Update models from conceptual design that adhere to customer specifications and modeling standards.

  18. Conceptualize assembly sequences and analyze fits and clearances by completing tolerance studies.

Qualifications:

A. Education: Minimum of an Associate degree with engineering experience.

B. Minimum Experience: Minimum of Two (2) years of experience.

C. Technology: Proficient in the use of CAD (NX, CREO, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Catia, Autodesk Inventor) and other computer processing tools. Proficient in the use of CAD data management software (Teamcenter, Windchill, Solidworks PDM).

D. Citizenship: Due to the nature of the job, US Citizenship is required.

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $65,000 to $75,000. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
