Navy Federal Credit Union Manager II, Analytics Engineering in Winchester, Virginia

Overview

The Manager, Analytics will lead the Analytics Center for Enablement (C4E) at Navy Federal Credit Union. The C4E’s objective is to enable world-class self-service data discovery and analytics capabilities for business users across the credit union. This role oversees enterprise anchor business intelligence (BI) and machine learning (ML) platforms and will manage a team to deliver BI and analytics services. This includes delivery of BI dashboards and Analytics capabilities to enable data science functions. Lead Agile teams in productionizing environments for analytics and data at scale. The role will set the strategic direction for analytics at Navy Federal and drive best practices in partnership with enterprise stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Analytics Center for Enablement partnering with data scientists, data engineers and product managers to deliver BI and Analytics solutions.

  • Set the strategic vision and technical product roadmap for BI & Analytics, ensuring alignment with partner teams and business objectives.

  • Work with product teams and business users to understand and address their data and analytics needs.

  • Implement architectures understanding data consumption patterns in partnership with infrastructure and vendor teams.

  • Adhere to data governance standards and best practices to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance.

  • Ensure structure and representation of data are optimized for clarity and reusability to deliver actionable insights for stakeholders.

  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of new analytics platform capabilities to serve business stakeholder needs.

  • Rebuild and migrate dashboards/reports from legacy BI platforms and on-prem data sources to cloud native BI platforms and cloud data sources.

  • Use CI/CD best practices including test automation and monitoring ensuring successful deployment of ML models.

  • Track performance monitoring, usage reporting, access, and license management.

  • Evaluate, develop, and implement analytical techniques and best practices to educate business users.

  • Build and manage a team to lead the delivery of analytics using Agile methodology.

  • Develop and maintain BI and Analytics related components of the Annual Financial Plan (AFP).

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in BI and Analytics.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Significant experience in delivering data analytics including in a people management role.

  • Proven expertise with using Tableau, Power BI, or similar toolsets.

  • Experience working with Python, R, SQL, and Spark for Big Data Analytics.

  • Experience leading Agile teams in productionizing capabilities at scale ensuring high availability and performance in Azure or similar Cloud.

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks ETL.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Analytical mindset with a strong ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.

  • Experience communicating end to end data outcomes visually and through story telling.

  • Demonstrate change management and evangelize adoption of analytics capabilities in Cloud.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills and executive presence.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • Experience working with data sets in Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Cosmos DB.

  • Experience building ML/NLP models in Azure Databricks and RStudio.

  • Experience managing DevOps, monitoring analytics and productionizing ML Feature Stores.

  • Knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products, and services.
