ABX Air, Inc. GSE Mechanic II FT in Wilmington, Ohio

Description This position performs as a skilled mechanic in the inspection, maintenance, repair and overhaul of all Ground Support Equipment (powered and non-powered). May be required to assist with facility or property equipment as directed by Management. Must be willing work flexible shifts, accept indoor and outdoor work assignments and be subject to overtime and some travel. The GSE Mechanic II will practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures; comply with all LGSTX Services operating and safety procedures and policies. Follows all safety guidelines and provides for the safety of customers, employees and other persons any time they are on or in company property or aircraft; or within the air operations area; provide guidance to less experienced personnel, advises lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems; remove malfunctioning ground support equipment from service and ensure GSE is not returned to service until malfunction has been properly diagnosed and repaired; utilizes appropriate tooling, equipment and material to accomplish maintenance functions including but not limited to the following: inspections, troubleshooting, repairing, removing and replacing components on all Ground Support functions. Provide trouble-shoot and diagnostic assessment of ground support equipment as required; must be able to solve problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications if necessary. What you need: Must have high school diploma or G.E.D; possess the ability to use the English language to communicate (both verbally and in writing) accurately and concisely on technical matters to external and internal customers; read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and hydraulic diagrams; have a valid Driver's License; verifiable three (3) years industrial and/or commercial maintenance work; basic arc and/or mig and acetylene welding, troubleshooting and repair gas and diesel engines, automatic/manual transmissions and drive trains, hydraulic systems, battery operated equipment and related components; ability to change light and heavy duty tires and wheels, work independently in non supervised position. Must have basic computer skills; have a complete set of mechanics tools appropriate for vehicle maintenance and repair (company will provide specialized tools); ability to demonstrate proficiency in all of the above areas; ability to stoop, bend, manipulate tools in small spaces; perform work at heights; ability to frequently lift and/or move varied objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Prefer Six (6) months formal approved technical training/schooling automotive maintenance or truck/implement devices or Two (2) years experience with industrial and/or commercial and/or commercial vehicle/equipment servicing and minor repair. Note: One (1) or more years of formal, approved schooling will be considered as one (1) year of the overall experience requirements. Ability to interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and hydraulic diagrams; CDL Class A driver's license; prior military AGE/GSE experience. Typing skills and Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office products is also a plus.
