ASM Global Part Time Maintenance Technician in Wilmington, North Carolina

Position: Maintenance Technician

Department: Operations

Reports To: Director of Operations

FLSA Status: Part-Time/ Hourly/ Non-Exempt

Position Summary

Under general supervision, perform work as needed to maintain and repair facility operating systems during facility events and normal business hours. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, dry wall patching and mechanic equipment maintenance. In addition to these responsibilities, act as part-time liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring that all client requirements are met, and facility rules, regulations and policies are followed. Will work in collaboration with current Facility Maintenance Engineer covering events and normal daily operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance to include wall patching, painting, carpentry, plumbing repairs, re-lamping, replacing ceiling tiles, and basic electrical repairs.

  • Perform event-related maintenance tasks, to include power drops and other client requirements.

  • Troubleshoot various maintenance problems in and around the facility and perform repairs as needed.

  • Assist in operating and maintaining computerized fire alarms, field equipment and lighting systems.

  • Provide minor servicing of the facility air conditioning systems.

  • Complete work orders in a timely fashion according to established standards and procedures. Summarize daily tasks and projects in support of the Director of Operations.

  • Follow all preventative maintenance programs, energy management programs, emergency management programs and standard operating procedures of the facility.

  • Notify the Director of Operations of any equipment in need of repairs or when supply inventories are low.

  • Assist the Director of Operations as liaison between building and outside contractors to ensure that needs are met and that safety codes are followed.

  • Interpret, explain, and apply building codes, rules and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities to ensure building compliance.

  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly fashion, storing tools and equipment properly with an attention to safety and housekeeping.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Two or more years of relevant experience in general repair and preventative maintenance.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard techniques in painting, plumbing, carpentry, building hardware, and electrical/lighting systems.

  • Trade school coursework and/or trade certificates preferred.

  • Possess a forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.

    Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to carry out tasks in a reliable, productive, and expedient manner, adhering to strict deadlines.

  • Recognize and use simple hand-held, manual and power tools required for performance of general maintenance duties.

  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered during the performance of duties.

  • Work with minimum supervision, operating independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Understand verbal and written instructions, with the ability to read and understand blueprints and floor diagrams.

    Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, such as Outlook and Excel.

    Other Qualifications

  • Available to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to event functions, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility and must be able to:

  • Stand and work for long hours during events on a hard surface floor.

  • Work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events and/or daily operations.

  • Perform strenuous physical duties for extended periods of time including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing, with the ability to occasionally lift 50 pounds.

  • Climb ladders and work from heights, as well as on uneven surfaces.

  • Withstand exposure to adverse conditions, including severe heat and cold weather conditions, as well as dust, pollen and fumes.
