CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for a Mechanical Engineering Technician
Type: Contract
Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Technician
Location: Primarily in Wilmington, NC. Could have travel to other plants in Midland, Winston Salem, and Hickory.
Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Wilmington, NC
Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Education: AAS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering (Equivalent work experience may be considered in rare circumstances.) and 3+ years’ experience.
A successful candidate in this position will possess strong soft skills as well as:
Has years of successful experience performing hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment.
Has years of successful experience performing hands-on troubleshooting, process start-up, and documentation of Mechanical and Electrical Systems for new or modified production equipment.
Ability to supervise internal maintenance and outside contract trades during all aspects of equipment installation and conversion such as demolition, construction, installation, testing, and debug of production equipment.
Description
Perform hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment.
Supervise and provide direction to contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades during all aspects of equipment installation and conversion such as demolition, construction, installation, testing, and debug of production equipment.
Perform hands-on troubleshooting, process start-up, and documentation of Mechanical and Electrical Systems for new or modified production equipment.
Modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.
Provide direction to technicians to create and modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.
Requirements:
Assist in developing mechanical and electrical installation checklists and schedules. Oversee, as appropriate, the usage of these systems.
Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
Re-design mechanical components to reduce installation cost, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs.
Prepare work orders and direct maintenance personnel and outside contract trades in the fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation of equipment.
Create, review, and update installation documentation and drawings as required.
Execute initial equipment set-up and debug up to the point of turnover to operations.
Redline existing drawings and follow-up with drafting services or support draftsmen as required to resolve design issues.
Provide second-level troubleshooting support, directing contract engineering techs, and trades as necessary to replace defective components and recommend changes in design to solve equipment/process issues.
Provide training to contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades on new equipment installation procedures as required for successful execution of installation activities.
Analyze and correct equipment installation practices to improve efficiencies, specifically directed toward enhancing installation schedules.
Required Qualifications
Education
- AAS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering (Equivalent work experience may be considered in rare circumstances.)
Qualifications
Precision positioning devices and laser alignment devices
Equipment used for machine installation activities: man lifts, industrial equipment moving devices, hand tools, etc.
Electronic calibration equipment
Fluke Meters
Precision flow measurement devices
Windows, MS Office suite including Power Point, Excel, Word, AutoCAD® 2023, Inventor 2023, MS Project, Pneumatic systems and schematics, Motion Control systems, Automated equipment systems, preferred
