Are you an experienced Human Services Caseworker looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference in a thriving community? Look no further! The New Hanover County Department of Social Services is seeking an experienced **Human Services Caseworker** to serve as a lead to caseworker staff aiding citizens in need of economic assistance. This role will serve in the absence of supervisors and may be assigned to support any of the economic services units in the agency. Duties include conducting reviews of case actions taken by new and seasoned caseworkers; serving as subject matter expert for policy and technical expert concerning automated systems; serving as a mentor to staff; advising caseworkers on policy interpretation and helping to resolve problem cases; assisting in the development and implementation of performance improvement and corrective action plans; compiling and entering data into appropriate computer databases; remaining abreast of policy changes and assisting with communicating changes and recommending training areas needed; and assisting with special projects associated with agency priorities as identified. ****Working for New Hanover County's Social Services Department:**** The Department of Social Services is a part of New Hanover County's consolidated Health and Human services agency, with roughly 500 dedicated professionals seeking to serve the citizens of our county through providing essential human services. Qualifications : High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and two (2) years of experience working as a caseworker in an economic services program administered at NHC. Education beyond the minimum cannot substitute for required years of experience. Family and Children's Medicaid experience is strongly preferred. Must have excellent computer skills, research and organizational skills, and interpersonal skills. Must have excellent communication skills and a comfort level with delivering training materials to large and small groups. Must possess excellent computer skills sufficient to use NC FAST, NC's online case management system, as well as various other search engines and software programs. Demonstrated experience mentoring employees in a human services setting is strongly preferred.
