Nova-Tech Engineering Purchasing Specialist in Willmar, Minnesota

What we’re looking for:

  • Expertise in MRP systems to recommend new procedures to enhance the performance of the planning and scheduling system within D365

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics production, master planning, inventory management, and transactional entries preferred

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, or equivalent software utilized for workflow management outside of D365

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and documentation

  • Skilled in working directly with both internal organizations and suppliers

  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities & meet deadlines

    What you’ll do:

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for acquiring external resources such as materials, equipment, and professional contracts that support development, production, and operations. Using accepted procurement practices, this role focuses on quality, timely delivery, sourcing location, relationship development, and cost-effectiveness.

Other key areas include:

  • Strategic sourcing and tactical purchasing execution that supports on-time delivery and superior quality

  • Plan and negotiate long-term contracts with favorable impact on inventory goals, quality, and continuity of supply and corporate objectives

  • Develop and maintain the supply base with emphasis on cost reduction, quality improvement, technology development, on time delivery, inventory reduction, lead time reduction, and customer focus

  • Expedite critical purchase orders in order to maintain material flow to support operations, engineering and customer service

  • Analyze supplier risk for financial health, single/sole sourced, and overall supply interruption risks

  • Select products for purchase by coordinating tests, observing, or examining items

  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services; Inspect and maintain quality control of personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action

  • Qualify new suppliers to ensure that the capacity, material management, and quality programs meet or exceed business requirements

In 2005, Nova-Tech partnered with Life-Science Innovations to buy a 37-building, 110-acre historic hospital facility in Willmar from the State of Minnesota.  Since that time, we have developed the resulting MinnWest Technology Campus into the largest privately owned technology park in the country. Willmar, MN is a bustling community located less than two hours from Minneapolis and one hour from St. Cloud known for its lakes and vibrant entertainment.
