We are seeking qualified candidates for our *Senior Mechanical Engineer *opportunity to join our Williamston, Michigan team! This position designs, develops, and assists in implementing blow molding and auxiliary equipment, repair of equipment and retrofits for existing machines and assists with the activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation by performing duties as outlined below:

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Researches and analyzes data, including customer design proposal, German data, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic specifications, bills of materials and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application to be used in U.S. blow molding machine production.

Converts Engineering (European) drawings to American standard units of measure, replaces European materials with comparable American materials based on technical specifications, availability and cost effectiveness, compares safety levels to ensure American standards are met and updates bills of materials and drawings as needed.

Designs or redesigns by way of a CAD system in retrieving files entering data to plot and manipulate drawings such as details, assembly, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics, layouts and sheet metal developments and complete projects for specific mechanical apparatus, and support equipment such as trimmers and transfer systems to meet the customer's needs. This may include German mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic assemblies, but not limited to, machine frames, calibration units, extruders clamping mechanisms and head tools to meet U.S. and purchase order requirements and release to production control and assembly departments.

Reports project costs including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and peripheral equipment, and provides management suggestions for updates and additions if applicable.

Assists engineering personnel in conducting stress analyses, and conducts other mathematical computations to determine sizing of machine components based on stress and dynamic loading.

Confers with supervisors and assists with start-up, recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions, and provides information for procedural manuals for operation and troubleshooting. Enters editing information into computer and implements Engineering Change Orders to document requested and finalized changes by other Departments.

Prepares, creates and/or updates engineering drawings including signs and labels to be created on computerized engraving machine with a CAD system and may be assigned to supervise draftspersons and detailers as needed and assists with evaluating software troubleshooting, and other related technical support as needed.

Attends engineering meetings to exchange ideas, troubleshoot, and provide information.

Prepares information for operating manual with troubleshooting guides.

Assists other departments including the Sales Department by providing plant layout proposal drawings, and engineering details to coordinate and complete specific projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering from a four year university or college combined with the following: A minimum of two years relevant practical experience; and at least three years of mechanical design experience; or six to eight years mechanical design experience
