UPMC Sonographer or Sonographer Advanced - Casual - Williamsport, PA in Williamsport, Pennsylvania

UPMC Williamsport is hiring a Casual Sonographer! This role will be scheduled on an as-needed basis in addition to working rotating weekends and holidays.

We will consider applicants at all levels of the Sonographer career leader.

Sonographer (C15) salary range: $35.54 - $51.05

Sonographer Advanced (C16) salary range: $37.18 - $54.74

*Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on his/her individual experience and education.

The Sonographer performs imaging procedures at an advanced level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs various advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative per applicable scope and standards of practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits advanced level of knowledge related to normal anatomy and pathology. Able to recognize pathology and the ability to think critically, assessing the patient results for communication with the physician.

  • Works directly with Radiologists regarding protocol development.

  • Performs all job responsibilities of a Level I Sonographer.

  • Assist with the training of staff and student sonographers.

  • Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.

  • Conveys results to patients and ordering clinicians where appropriate and when permitted by the attending physician.

  • Performs or assists Clinical Specialists in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.

  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and can cover off shifts, and on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with lead and management team.

Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.

2 years of ultrasound experience is required.

Performance review consistent with minimum of strong/ Solid performance on last performance review.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

RDMS Registered

CPR or BLS Preferred

CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

SONOGRAPHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.

  • RDMS registered or registry eligible preferred.

  • Completion of the Physics portion of the registry is preferred.

  • Must obtain RDMS within 12 months of hire date.
