UPMC Sonographer Adv - Full-time in Williamsport, Pennsylvania

UPMC is hiring a Full-Time Sonographer! This role will work from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The work location is 740 High Street, but you may be required to travel to offices in Muncy and Lock Haven as well.

Prior OB/Gyn and MFM experience is preferred.

The Sonographer performs imaging procedures at an advanced level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs various advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits an advanced level of knowledge related to normal anatomy and pathology. Able to recognize pathology and the ability to think critically, assessing the patient results for communication with the physician.

  • Works directly with Radiologists regarding protocol development.

  • Performs all job responsibilities of the Level I Sonographer.

  • Assist with the training of staff and student sonographers.

  • Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.

  • Conveys results to patients and the ordering clinicians where appropriate and when given permission by the attending physician.

  • Performs or assists Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.

  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and is able to cover off shifts, on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with the lead and management team.

Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.

2 years of ultrasound experience are required. Performance review consistent with minimum of strong/ Solid performance on last performance review.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

RDMS Registered

CPR or BLS is Preferred. CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)

Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required. 2 years of ultrasound experience required. Performance review consistent with minimum of strong/ Solid performance on last performance review.
