GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Functions as aPatient Services Representative (PSR)in a team and mission-based setting to providea smooth patient flow process by answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, providing registration of patient and insurance information, obtaining required signatures following established processes, procedures and standards.
  • PSR verifies insurance coverage, validates referrals and authorizations, collects patient liability and provides financial guidance to patients to maximize medical services reimbursement efforts.
  • This also includes accurately posting patients at the point of service and releasing information in accordance with NCCH organizational and compliance policies and guidelines.
  • PSR communicates with patients/clients and NCCH staff to ensure highest quality of customer service.
  • PSR has primary responsibility for serving as a resource to build, strengthen and maintain positive working relationships with patients, clients, providers, case managers, referral representatives, supervisors, program managers, and related service providers or vendors.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • This position may be asked to work at other hospital district sites as needed.
  • Perform any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organizations Values.

This position requires a commitment to teamwork, collaboration and department scheduling needs i.e. good attendance, attitude, customer services, communication skills, etc.,

Supervision Received:

  • Works under the direct supervision of theRural Health Clinics Manager or designated administrator.

Special Conditions:

  • Position is Safety Sensitive / Drug Free Workplace / COVID Vaccination Requirements.

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or a combination of education, working experience may be considered in lieu of a diploma or GED.

PREFERRED:

  • 1 year experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting, preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • None required

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements and medical terminology.
  • Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation, and positive interactions with all patients/clients, employees, staff, providers, and vendors.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule when circumstances necessitate.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive communication skills; ability to successfully interact with all customers; continuous demonstration of courteous, cooperative and service orientated behavior.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality and positive patient experience.
  • Basic computer skills, and ability to use office equipment to include but not limited to copy machine, faxes, etc.
