Job Overview:

Performs engineering task related to design engineering, analysis, and calculations, applying the content and application of McDermott and industry standards, codes, and guidelines.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand the project contract including scope of work , specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements

  • Achieve basic knowledge of MDR's business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication, and marine functions

  • Become familiar with P&IDs, Line List, Equipment Layouts, Piping Specifications and Design Basis

  • Prepare the Piping Stress Critical Line List and required Engineered Pipe Support datasheets

  • Prepare the Flexibility Analysis, Wind/Seismic and Pipe Support Fabrication specification

  • Prepare Material Requisitions, Technical Queries, Technical Bid Evaluations and Purchase Requisitions of Piping Engineered items including Special Engineered and Standard Pipe Supports, as well as expansion joints where applicable

  • Perform stress analysis on critical piping systems using comprehensive and manual methods on identified complex piping systems

  • Keep the Piping Project Leadership apprised of all activities, progress and concerns

  • Be aware of costs relation to own work

  • Recognize changes to scope and notify the Discipline Lead Engineer

  • Document substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copies to Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager

  • Assist procurement personnel in procuring discipline equipment, materials and services. Procurement assistance includes preparing requisitions, evaluating technical quotations and preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with Procurement to expedite vendor documents, as directed by Discipline Lead Engineer

  • Check engineering performed by others within Discipline

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering field from accredited University

  • Written and Verbal Communication skills

  • 5+ years’ experience in Oil and Gas engineering, with EPC experience

  • Familiar with codes and standards of ASME, API, and ANSI

  • Is current on new scientific engineering methods and possesses a technical knowledge of the detail design engineering process

  • Is capable of appropriate use of computer applications and other specialized engineering tools

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer and a member of professional engineering society
