Job Description Summary

This is a permanent position working Monday - Friday (37.5hr) + On Call Allowance, OT, Holiday Entitlement, Pension, Private Medical Insurance.

We have exciting opportunities to join our growing Onshore Wind service team in the Netherlands, supporting the Services and Engineering Teams at our sites! The role will provide on-site service, technical direction and leadership through all aspects of maintenance and corrective works.

You are at the very front of new solutions as you will be working on our 'Prototype' , seeing from both sides of the fence!

Our prototype site is located at.: Schervenweg 35a, 1771 RT Wieringerwerf, Netherlands. Were we have 3 different platforms installed - the 3.8MW DFIG, The 4.2MW DFIG and 5.3MW Cypress.

Typically we have 2 x on site at any one time with a mix of contractors when needed. Leading all activities you will be the face of GE.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide on site technical direction, hands on service and leadership during maintenance and servicing activities at customer owned facilities.

  • Prepare job planning documents that define the scope of work to be performed through engineering instructions, drawings, and process instructions;

  • Communicate effectively with Management and Colleagues utilizing customers’ CTQs (Critical to Quality needs) in job planning and execution;

  • Ability to work independently on the implementation of fault analyses and repair of wind turbine generator systems in the Netherlands, including clarification of any client queries

  • Documentation of call-out responses, fault finding and repair work in service reports, logbooks and checklists

  • Coordination of external and internal service providers and contractors on site

  • Maintain a strong safety culture and mindset to ensure all executed work reflects GE and customer technical and EHS requirements

  • Willing to work and fulfill on-call obligations for out of normal working hours if required. (e.g. weekend working)

  • Ability to work away from home when business dictates

  • Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets and expense sheets in a thorough, complete and timely basis;

  • Exercise good judgment in controlling costs and expenditures of Company funds

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Appropriately qualified Electrical / Mechanical Fitter or Electrical Technician / Technologist or Electrician / Electrical Fitter - nationally recognized diploma or certificate;

  • Experience with electrical test equipment and testing procedures;

  • Ability to Safely and effectively operate High and Low Voltage Equipment

  • High degree of quality awareness; excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills combined with the ability to detect and remedy faults, defects, problems

  • Fit and able to work at heights

  • Structured worker with technical analytical abilities

  • Computer literate - knowledge of Microsoft Office package

  • Prepared to travel throughout the Netherlands on occasion

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent English speaking, reading and writing skills

  • Valid national driver's license

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proven experience in leading field service team;

  • Previous experience working on GE and/or Alstom ECO Turbines

  • Previous High Voltage experience

  • Electrical/ mechanical service or maintenance experience will be an additional advantage

  • Willingness to travel;

  • High degree of flexibility, highly motivated with the ability to work under pressure

  • Advanced computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Access;

  • Basic Workplace First Aid
