Overview:

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, recruiting, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities.

Essential Job Dutie:

  • Develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation program.
  • Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team.
  • Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Maintains current personnel files on active volunteers.
  • Coordinate support & education meetings.
  • Attends interdisciplinary group meetings.
  • Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
  • Participates as needed in the budget preparation for program development.
  • Actively participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
  • Monitors continuous compliance with Medicare and other licensure regulations.
  • Responsible for documenting and tracking appropriate volunteer statistical information.
  • Ensures a minimum of 5% of the total number of patient care hours are provided by volunteers in administrative and/or direct patient care roles.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred.
  • Two years experience of management and supervision.
  • Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
  • Understands hospice philosophy.
  • Organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs.
  • Manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees.
