Spirit AeroSystems Test Engineer in Wichita, Kansas

Overview

Responsibilities

Location: Wichita, KS (Onsite)

*Relocation available to those who qualify

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design, construct, fabricate, assemble, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems (primarily hydraulic, electrical and computer based equipment)

  • Perform a variety of tests utilizing electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and similar type systems and equipment

  • Support commissioning of new test equipment

  • Work with/from schematics, engineering drawings, written and/or verbal instructions

  • Operate related equipment

  • Analyze data to determine whether instrumentation is functioning correctly upon installation

  • Perform calibration and alignment checks, planning, modifications, and replacements as required

  • Work effectively and supportively in a team environment while being able to work independently with minimal oversight

  • Work with potentially hazardous equipment or on potentially hazardous test activities, following all safety equipment and processes mandated for those activities to complete them safely

  • Work directly with internal customers in a supportive and positive manner

  • Work a flexible schedule in dynamic and deadline driven environment

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited Engineering program is required

  • 5+ years of related experience

  • Experience designing mechanical/electrical/hydraulic test systems

  • Experience assembling mechanical/electrical/hydraulic test systems

  • Experience working with mechanical/electrical/hydraulic test systems

  • Experience working with computer systems

  • Experience installing and working with instrumentation and test equipment

  • Ability to work from drawings and schematics

  • Ability to design and fabricate items required with minimal oversight

  • Experience working with various hand, power and machine shop tools

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule

    Preferred Skills:

  • 9+ years of related experience

  • Experience in a production test, test lab and/or flight test environment

  • Programming and PLC experience
