Receives, prepares, maintains, reconciles, balances, and refunds financial transactions in both the Countys financial and tax system. Assists in the preparation of complex financial and statistical statements, analyses, reports, and distributions. Accountants will be assigned primary functions, cross-trained, and assigned back-up duties within the tax accounting group. Accomplishes other special projects as necessary.

Responsible for the accounting of the County Treasurers Tax Office.

  • Run, export, and prepare financial reports
  • Process, verify, and reconcile credit card transactions
  • Reconcile and balance Countys bank and general ledger accounts
  • Research and process returned checks/credit card payments for County departments
  • Prepare and balance daily reports for daily deposits
  • Verify deposits from other departments for accuracy
  • Prepare, verify, balance, and transmit electronic payments/deposits to the bank
  • Communicate with tax payers via phone, email, and in-person
  • Compile and produce data for various reports
  • Reviews assigned work for accuracy and consistency
  • Research and create refund checks
  • Maintain Pre-Pay system

Maintain Assigned Liability Accounts

  • Balance and reconcile accounts daily/weekly/monthly
  • Communicate with internal and external departments/agencies to maintain account accuracy

Team-Oriented Duties

  • Complete all assigned reporting, reconciling, and payment processing within regularly set deadlines.
  • Regularly meet with other accountants and team supervision to plan and assist with special projects

Minimum Qualifications: Three years of experience in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Up to three years of experience (all) may be substituted with education that provides applicable knowledge and skills. One year of work experience in Customer Service, administrative services, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience in governmental accounting and fiscal operations. Bachelors Degree from an Accredited College or University in Accounting or Finance.
