GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

The Plant Controller will be responsible for the accounting-related processes at the plant including budgeting, costing, capital spending, cost savings and productivity. Act as the primary liaison for division financial functions, needs, and policies. Focus on costing and inventory activities & provide informative analyses of the operations for division & local management. Committed to working in a team-oriented environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent the Finance Team with a professional and customer service-based attitude.

  • Provide timely and accurate information to internal customers.

  • Provide training for finance employees to cultivate the overall power of the team.

  • Practice efficient time management and organization skills to meet all deadlines.

  • Develop Manufacturing and distribution budgets.

  • Maintain accurate manufacturing cost file.

  • Forecasting Direct Cost Variances, cost reduction programs, wage rate variance and non-standard variances.

  • Prepare monthly closing requirements to properly reflect current financial status of the plant.

  • Analyze significant operating variances monthly for Direct Labor, Variable Manufacturing Expense, Scrap & Material Usage.

  • Develop and provide detail analysis for cost studies.

  • Supervisor of finance department.

CLIMATE:

Must work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with constant interruptions. Must clearly communicate business goals so associates understand how they contribute to the organization’s success. Extensive short-term planning based on established and changing priorities. Involves ongoing problem solving. Some irregular hours required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field.

  • Demonstrated understanding of managerial accounting as it relates to a manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of five or more years experience with cost accounting combined with advanced knowledge of PC spreadsheets, databases and mainframe standard cost and inventory systems.

  • Ability to understand and assimilate new ideas and manage change.

  • Willingness to aggressively set and achieve goals with a minimum of direction.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of associates and work in a team environment.

  • Good planning and organizational skills combined with strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and technical accounting skills.

  • Microsoft Access - proficiency is a must.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Attention to detail.

Preferable Characteristics:

  • Prefer development towards higher levels of responsibility and accountability.

  • Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Lean manufacturing experience.

  • CPA/CMA or MBA a plus.
