Join us and discover the possibilities for your future!\ \ Compensation: \$15 /hr\ Worksite Location: M-F varies between 9a-8p (flexible based on needs & availability); South Campus\ \ Overview / Job Summary:\ The Tutor provides academic support to students through content and skills tutoring, individualized mentoring services, and caseload management in courses with high DFW rates. This position requires flexibility to work varying hours and mobility to move between campuses for daily assignments each week.\ \ Your day-to-dayresponsibilitieswill vary, but are not limited to:\

  • Provides tutoring assistance and laboratory assistance to all students to improve their academic performance through collaborative learning and skills resources in Health Sciences, Writing, Math, and other core subject areas.
  • Provides intrusive mentoring services tailored for the individual student through face-to face and virtual presentation conducts proactive and follow-up student tracking, assists in coordinating/facilitating student study session, and participates in Learning Outreach activities.
  • Provides basic assistance in Microsoft applications, presentation creation software, Blackboard navigation, digital textbooks, and other learning tools.
  • Maintains effective communication and works collaboratively with faculty and staff in all departments of the College to improve opportunities for student success.
  • Maintains documentation of tutoring and mentoring services provided to all students.

This role will also work with other areas within the Tutoring Lab as needed to help provide excellent customer service to student.\ \ Education:

  • Bachelors degree in a subject area presents at the collegeORone of the areas indicated below,required. Exception may be made for applicants actively working on obtaining degree in subject area present at college or those indicated below.
    • Biological Science, with emphasis in A&P, preferred. (Associate degree accepted in lieu of BS with 2 years industry experience in related field, required).
    • Mathematics/Science Degree
    • Health Science Degree preferred or health related field degree.
    • Secondary Education Degree, required within fields of Biological Sciences, Math, Sciences, OR Adult Ed Degree.

Required/Preferred Requirements:

  • Teaching and/or tutoring experience with post-secondary students and/or adult learners,preferred.
  • Willingness to continually work on expanding personal skill set(s) to adapt to the changing needs of the division and student,required.
  • Proficient use and knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel are required. Knowledge of SharePoint and Blackboard,preferred.
  • Professional-level communication skills: including excellent written and oral communication, excellent interpersonal, and the ability to communicate effectively with others to arrive at solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
