Howmet Aerospace LaPorte Visual Level III in Wichita Falls, Texas

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is focused on standardizing visual inspection techniques and supporting continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives in the Visual Inspection areas sponsored by Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering. This position has responsibility for understanding and executing the requirements of a Metal Visual Leader per HES employee certified ‘Level III’ NDT methods and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Train and verify competency of operators within the Visual Inspection areas.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with quality, manufacturing, engineering and the customers for the respective Visual Inspection areas.

  • Establish techniques, interpret codes, standards and specifications, and prepare written procedures to improve visual inspection effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Inspect production castings.

  • Review and address Quality and Efficiency of all Visual Level II’s

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops visual techniques and training / oversight of the visual inspection process; maintain all necessary training and certification documentation.

  • Acts as the central point of communication for visual issues to all upstream connection points, including Acuna and the actual point of cause processes.

  • Participates in the development and execution of improvement plans for reduction of rework and internal rejections at customer release.

  • Conduct periodic system audits as required by the HWF Quality System.

  • Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate a proven track record for visual inspection. Visual Level III certification must be achieved on-the-job within 90 to 180 days, along with maintaining customer certifications required to act as a customer release agent for all primary customers.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Detail and results oriented, independent, self-motivated, team oriented, competent with MS Office applications.

  • Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to work near fumes or airborne particles, near toxic or caustic chemicals and be required to work near moving mechanical parts. the noise level is moderate to loud.

Travel will be required 50% of the time including international travel to Acuna, Mexico.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

  • This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, or quality. Experience is required in visual inspection (e.g.Level II), including auditing experience.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Competent with MS Office Applications.
