JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job ID: 20889 ATTENTION: Information Technology Services (ITS) at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking a DevOps Engineer (DevOps Engineer III (B), IT154). JOB DETAILS: The DevOps position is a member of the Tier 3 Network Operations Center. Reporting to the Network Operations Director, this position serves as a technical lead in the design, integration, delivery, and provides advanced and varied consultation, project management, and operational support of applications or services, development operations (DevOps), through automation and/or infrastructure as code. Specific responsibilities include Linux system administration, NetApp and cloud storage solutions, and virtual computing environment. Serves as a key member of the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) group. Anticipates issues and devises resolution methodology. Provides non-routine maintenance and long-term assistance to ensure subsystems and infrastructure function together and business needs are met. Provides guidance and training to other staff and serves as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders. RESPONSIBILITIES: -Serves as technical lead for one or more aspects of assigned systems -Analyzes requirements and communicates and coordinates with staff and internal stakeholders related to the system(s) and/or project(s) -Develops, programs, and/or deploys automation workflows for deployment, configuration, and/or monitoring of systems/services -Collaborates with other members of IT Services to maintain current and accurate Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans -Manages, maintains, selects, and develops automation tools and infrastructure, including security configurations -Performs integration, migration, configuration, and security of existing applications and services into automated infrastructures -Serves as primary technical lead for Linux-based systems and enterprise storage systems -Ensures comprehensive system documentation is current and maintained in central repository -Works with Workstation Management (Tier 2) and Help Desk (Tier 1) to delegate operational tasks to T1 and T2 support personnel -Serves as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders, providing guidance and training to staff -Some night and weekend work required to support planned and unplanned needs -Occasional travel to other UW campuses may be required -All other duties as assigned by the Network Operations Director and CIO TO ENSURE CONSIDERATION: Applications received by June 12, 2024 are ensured full consideration.
